Why treat swimming pool water?

Pool water always requires extra care. Whether it is your private swimming pool, a wellness center or a public swimming pool welcoming hundreds of visitors, hygiene and cleanliness remain the main challenge.

AD POWER WATER specializes, among other things, in the treatment of swimming pool water for private baths and private hot tubs. With the correct and approved methods, we always guarantee carefree bathing pleasure for you, your family and/or your visitors.

Treating swimming pool water requires the use of suitable disinfectant products. These must be adjusted according to the volume of the pool and its temperature, in addition to the filtration time. The water is polluted by external elements: leaves, grass, insects... but also by swimmers. To ensure that the pool water remains crystal clear and is not invaded by algae, continuous disinfection is essential. Several types of disinfectants ensure continuous treatment of your pool water.

Chlorine treatment

Calcium hypochlorite is both a disinfectant and a powerful oxidant, which has the advantage of not generating cyanuric acid and thus avoiding over-stabilization of swimming pool water. This can be deposited manually in the form of pellets, or generated automatically and naturally via an electrolyser. The chlorine produced by a salt chlorinator is pure and does not cause irritation, unlike tablets or liquid chlorine which can bother some allergic people.

Chlorine treatment has many advantages. Its excellent antibacterial and algaecide power makes it very effective in maintaining good water quality. Very simple to use, it is also an economical method for treating your swimming pool. These main disadvantages are linked to its antibacterial power. This can be irritating to the eyes, mucous membranes, and skin, particularly for people with allergies or sensitive skin. However, there are alternatives to chlorine if you want to avoid these disadvantages.

Bromine treatment

Active oxygen: Studies show that some consumers favor "chlorine-free" products which have a more natural image and are suitable for children's swimming. These products provide bathing comfort for the whole family. Odorless, they do not sting the eyes or irritate the skin in water.

The main disadvantage of bromine remains its fairly high price. This is overall 30% more expensive than chlorine, not counting the purchase of a brominator, for which prices generally vary from 80 to 250 euros. Bromine must also be handled with great care: undiluted with water, it is extremely corrosive. Despite these disadvantages, this solution remains a very interesting alternative to chlorine for swimming pools installed in hot regions, or quite simply for people looking for a more ecological method of water treatment.

Swimming pool treatment by salt electrolysis

No more chemicals, electrolysis is a more ecological solution for your swimming pool. The salt chlorinator protects health and guarantees clear water all year round. From very slightly salty water (7 times less than sea water), an electrolysis cell produces chlorine and diffuses it into the water to eliminate bacteria, algae, chloramines, without residue or pollution. The salt automatically recombines before being recycled back into chlorine.

You will benefit from a perfectly disinfected swimming pool with complete peace of mind and the greatest comfort.

The only real disadvantage of salt electrolysis remains the constraint of monitoring the pH. This can in fact become disrupted under the effect of the soda produced by electrolysis. This drawback can nevertheless be corrected by installing an automatic pH regulator, so that your pH remains between 7.2 and 7.4.

Swimming pool treatment with active oxygen

Treating swimming pool water with active oxygen is a solution that is increasingly popular with owners. Active oxygen is a treatment product considered ecological. Its oxidizing action aims to destroy the various organic materials present in the water.

Its main disadvantage is that it has a fairly limited disinfectant action. The ideal is therefore to use this type of product in addition to another disinfectant. Used alone, it is more suitable for small, lightly used swimming pools, with a surface area of less than 40m3, and should be used very regularly. Since it is quite expensive, this frequency of use may create reluctance among certain users.

Swimming pool water treatment: discover the UV lamp

The UV swimming pool lamp is one of the possible water treatment methods. UV water treatment allows you to enjoy a chlorine-free swimming pool and thus reduce the use of chemicals that are harmful to our skin. However, treating your swimming pool with UV can be expensive.

The UV pool treatment also leaves no residue. Finally, installing the UV lamp is relatively simple and quick. However, this treatment is quite expensive and it does not make the water disinfectant. The disinfectant action of the lamp must therefore be prolonged by the action of a complementary treatment product (remanent product): active oxygen and bromine are the most common.
